It’s another beautiful day here in the Good Life- aka Nebraska. It snowed a little last night, but has since melted. It still looks super cold out though and the sun doesn’t seem to want to wake up.
Since it’s Tuesday, that means another treasure to share with you all. This week, my treasure is one of my favorite things in our home. When we moved, I almost wanted to put this piece in the basement, but am so glad I changed my mind.
My bookcase.
My house is full of things that my dad built. This is one of them. He built this for me a few years ago, when I was running out of space for my library.
I love books. I got that from my mom. Growing up, my mom was always reading. She loves mystery’s, as do I. We used to go to the library as kids and I loved touching and smelling the pages. I think books are something special. There is nothing like holding a good book.
I try to find time every day to read a little. I love that my mind goes to all these different places, thinks about different worlds, different cultures, different everything. I can escape my world for a little while and be somewhere else.
In the last year I have gone a different route with my reading. I have only bought books that will help me better myself. I have read a lot of christian authors to grow my faith. I find myself re-reading those books often. You can never have too much Jesus in your life.
I have also read a lot of books to help me be a stronger leader in our business. I watch to see what other Advocare distributors are reading and am constantly putting books in my Amazon cart. I currently have five waiting to be purchased.
This little nook of my house changes often, because I hate things being the same all the time. But, I always find myself in this chair with a good book. It’s my chair. My girls even know that it’s mom’s.
I have so many books, they don’t all fit on this case. Right now, the bottom shelves hold our DVD collection. Therefore, my books are all over the house. I keep my devotional, journal & a few other books that are special to me in a little basket in our room. My husband and I each have a bible on our bedside tables.
I am so thankful my mom loves to read and that I got that from her. I’m teaching my girls to love books as well. Rae and I have been sitting together at night, reading the American Girl stories. They are chapter books, with a few pictures, so she really has to listen and use her imagination. She really enjoys it though. That makes my soul happy.
Find some quiet time today to read a good book. Go explore another world, use your imagination. It will make your heart happy. Remember to be thankful.
Happy Tuesday friends!
Reading is the best!! And the love of reading is such an incredible thing to be able to pass along! Izzie woke in the middle of the night last week and finished reading one of her books, and went back to sleep. 🙂 I have no idea where she gets that from! 😉
