Make a Difference

Happy hump day friends!

The state of Nebraska is currently preparing for a giant winter storm.. at least that’s what the word on the street is. We will see later today if it’s for real.

I have been failing to read lately, but was able to read a chapter last night of my newest book by Ashley Shepherd called Beautifully Designed.

After reading just the first page of this book, I was sure she was writing it just for me. Ladies, you need this book in your life.

The chapter I read last night was about people pleasing and caring more about what people think, before what God thinks.

For most of my life, I have been so concerned with what other people think of me. Whhhyyyyy?!

I can remember even in grade school girls being mean and tryin to fit in with the “cool” crowd.

Middle school was worse. And then toward the end of high school, I just didn’t care anymore.

Why is there such thing as a “cool” crowd that seems to rule the world when you’re going through the awkward years of your life?

I was such a follower back then. I didn’t stand up for myself, let myself have my own thoughts and just got sucked in more.

I cared more about what others thought and didn’t realize I wasn’t caring what God thought of me.

My spiritual life has changed oh so much over the years. I used to just go to church because I had to. Only talked to God when I needed something.

Now, in my thirties, I can say I care more about what the big guy thinks of me over anyone else.

This topic has been brought to my attention a few times over the last week.

Pruning your life of the negative people.

Don’t be a people pleaser.

Care about what God thinks over anything else.

It’s all the same message. You have to change yourself, your mind set and your beliefs if you want things to change.

My friend Tammy just did a Facebook live yesterday about this as well. Girl, you were speaking truth that so many people need to hear.

Those of us with daughters need to be strong and make these changes. Not only for our own life to be better, but to show our daughters how important it is.

I want my daughters to be the nice girls. The girls that get along with anyone. Who smile and share their warm hearts. Who stand up to the bully and hold hands with the weak.

I want my girls to trust God and know that what he thinks is so much bigger than what other kids think of them.

We all know times have changed since we were kids. It’s changed for the worse. Social media makes everything worse. Kids are mean. So mean. And at a much younger age.

Show the younger generations what the world needs. If we stand up and work together to not be people pleasers and please God instead, the world will be a better place.

[side note: Rae did her own makeup for school today. YOLO!]

Peace & Love my friends!!
